Markus Ortlieb

Markus Ortlieb has been head of the Jena Sub-Office of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) since October 2005 and head of the trade mark division in Jena since 2004.

Beforehand, he held several posts at DPMA, such as head of the administration section in Jena, head of the legal section and head of personnel administration in Berlin. He also coordinated the relocation of the Berlin branch of DPMA to Jena in 1998. Between 1995 and 1998 he was senior officer for patent law and other industrial property rights at the German Ministry of Justice.

He was born in Heidenheim (Germany) in 1963 and studied law at the university of Konstanz (Germany). Afterwards he worked as a research assistant at Konstanz university before he joined DPMA in March 1990.
