E. Sackey

Head of Search and Examination
African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO)

Holds a Master of Philosophy degree (M.Phil) in Food Science and Technology with specialization in Product Development and Food Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Industrial Chemistry, Diploma of Education (Dip Ed), Diploma in French Studies (DELF) and a number of certificates in Project Management and feasibility Studies.

He is a Fellow of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has undertaken post-graduate studies in biotechnology and intellectual property and attended many courses on intellectual property and is currently working at the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) as a Senior Examiner in the fields of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Head of Search and Examination and Coordinator of ARIPO’s mandate on the protection of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and expressions of folklore as well as the training programmes of the ARIPO Regional Training Centre. He was instrumental in the development of the ARIPO Regional Legal Instrument on the protection of traditional knowledge and expressions of folklore. Mr Sackey is a part-time Lecturer at the Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe (Masters in Intellectual Property Programme) and a member of several Scientific and Research Associations. As an international speaker, he has travelled extensively and given presentations and published articles in the fields of science and intellectual property.
