Konrad Boehmer

Konrad Boehmer (Berlin, 1941) is a composer of orchestral, dramatic, chamber and electronic music. Next to his studies in composition, he studied musicology, philosophy and sociology. His dissertation "The Theory of Open Form in New Music" was awarded with the price of excellence at the Cologne University. During 35 years, Boehmer has been professor of composition and music history at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague. Next to his compositional activities he has been active as a writer (mainly on aesthetic and social aspects of music). He is actively involved in the Authors' Rights world since 40 years.
Amongst the several prizes he was awarded for his music, the most important was the "Rolf-Liebermann-prize" for his opera "Doctor Faustus".
