Hiejo Ruijsenaars

Heijo Ruijsenaars is Head of Intellectual Property at the European Broadcasting Union. He has been a Legal Advisor at the EBU since 1998. His legal expertise lies in the areas of new media and new technologies, international copyright, and sports and news broadcasting. Specialized in intellectual property law, Heijo worked in entertainment law for a German law firm in Munich (Germany) and until 1997 he was a staff member at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property Law, in Munich. In 1997, he obtained a doctorate with a comparative law thesis on character merchandising from the University of Leiden (Netherlands).
