Dr. Marisella Ouma is the Executive Director of the Kenya She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya specialising in Intellectual Property Law with a bias to copyright and related rights and traditional knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions. She has over 14 years of expereince which has seen her carry out several research projects, publish on intellectual property as well as teach Intellectual Property at the University of Nairobi and the African University Mutare under the WIPO-ARIPO MIP programmme.
Marisella has played a pivotal role in advising the Attorney General and other Government Departments on Intellectual Property matters in Kenya and within Africa. She has also actively participated in the formulation and drafting of the intellectual property policy in Kenya and the region as well as the law on counterfeiting and piracy.
She holds a Doctorate in Law from Queen Mary University of London and a Masters in Intellectual Property Law from Stockholm University. Her LL.B is from the University of Nairobi.
