Antonio M. Santos is presently the Director of the National Library of the Philippines (NLP). A Professorial Lecturer in Law and Library Science, University of the Philippines (UP) and Philippine Normal University (PNU).
Before his stint as Director, he was the UP College of Law Librarian for more than three (3) decades. A Graduate of Bachelor of Arts (AB), Major in Political Science and Bachelor of Law (LLB) in UP. He graduated from University of Washington, U.S.A for his Masters in Law Librarianship (MLL).
A National President of the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), for three (3) terms. He became a member, until the present, of the Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL) Executive Board. He was the CONSAL XIII General Conference Over-All Chairperson in Manila in 2006.
Antonio is at present an Ex-Officio member of the Executive Board of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP); the incumbent Head of the National Committee on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS); member of the Executive Board of the Sub-commission of Cultural Heritage and an Ex-Officio Member/Commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) of the Philippines.
He has received various awards, notably, Outstanding Library Science Professional of the University of the Philippines; Outstanding Professional Librarian by the Professional Regulation Commission; Outstanding Librarian by PLAI, Philippine Association of Academic and Research Libraries (PAARL), Philippine Group of Law Librarians (PGLL) and the First awardee of CONSAL as The Outstanding Librarian of Southeast Asia.
