English | Patent Classifications as knowledge - Mr. Attila Törcsvári Mr. Attila Törcsvári, Managing Director, Arcanum Development, Budapest, Hungary IPC (its scheme and its e-layer components), being one of the largest, systematically revised, internationally agreed taxonomy, is analyzed as a semantic network or ontology. In-house research showed that a lot of “knowledge” can be made explicit by extraction information of IPC or CPC. Features of IPC are reworded as relations between concepts. A limited automatic interpretation of the structure of IPC and its English text, to retrieve these relations, is shown with various examples. Tacit use with statistics and possible use by patent information users and autocategorizers is presented. |
