Canada: Act to amend the Copyright Act

Canada: The Act to amend the Copyright Act (access to copyrighted works or other subject-matter for persons with perceptual disabilities) (S.C. 2016, c. 4) received Royal assent and entered into force on June 22, 2016.
It amends provisions of the Copyright Act relating to access for persons with perceptual disabilities to copyrighted materials without requiring permission of copyright holders, while safeguarding the interests of copyright owners. It implements the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled to which Canada acceded on June 30, 2016, bringing the Treaty into force on September 30, 2016.
