Poland: The Act of June 8, 2017, amending the Act on the Legal Protection of Plant Varieties entered into force on July 11, 2017.
This Act provides amendments relating to, inter alia: (i) the addition of soya bean to the list of plant varieties which are allowed to be used as farm-saved seed (FSS); (ii) the exemption from the fee of FSS in the case where the breeders refrain from collecting this fee and publish this information on their websites and the website of the breeders' organization ("Agencja Nasienna"); and (iii) the exemption from the obligation for farmers to provide information to the breeders concerning the quantity of propagating material from the list of plant varieties eligible for FSS, as referred to in the Act.
