WIPO and KIPO Present Multimedia Tool for Smes at Geneva Inventions Fair

Geneva, April 16, 2007
PR/2007/487

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) will present Intellectual Property (IP) Panorama, an interactive and user-friendly multimedia product which provides business-oriented explanations of different aspects of intellectual property (IP) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), at the 35th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products of Geneva, from April 18 to 22, 2007. This event, which is held at Geneva’s exhibition center, Palexpo and is open to the public, brings together over 700 exhibitors from 42 countries.

IP Panorama explains in layperson’s terms the practical relevance and strategic uses of the tools of IP for business, and their potential role in enhancing competitiveness and boosting profits. The product includes a series of ten modules which introduce different aspects of the IP system including patents, trademarks, copyright and related rights, designs and trade secrets as well as such areas as patent information, licensing, e-commerce, international trade and IP audit.

This will be the first public display of the completed IP Panorama series. IP Panorama was developed by WIPO, KIPO, and the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) using state-of-the-art computer technology, in the context of a project to develop IP e-learning content.

The series may be downloaded from WIPO’s website at www.wipo.int/sme, and from the website of the IP Academy (www.ipacademy.net) which is operated by KIPO and the KIPA.
