PCT: Accession by Antigua and Barbuda Bringsto 106 the Number of Contracting States of the PCT

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, announces that Antigua and Barbuda deposited its instrument of accession to the PCT on December 17, 1999, and will become bound by the PCT on March 17, 2000. Antigua and Barbuda becomes the 106th Contracting State of the PCT.

Consequently, in any international application filed on or after March 17, 2000, Antigua and Barbuda (country code: AG) may be designated and, because it will be bound by Chapter II of the PCT, may also be elected for the purposes of international preliminary examination. Furthermore, nationals and residents of Antigua and Barbuda will be entitled from March 17, 2000, to file international applications under the PCT.

The PCT is a system which offers inventors and industry an advantageous route for obtaining patent protection worldwide. The present 106 Contracting States of the PCT are the following:
