From Bangladesh to the World: How Masuda Yesmin is Using Trademarks to Help Expand Her Leather Business

Masuda Yesmin started her leather business with just two machines in a single-room workshop in Jessore, Bangladesh. She now runs a thriving factory with 55 employees, creating over 200 different types of bags, wallets and purses. Masuda’s resilience and determination have helped her grow her business so she can support her family and three daughters. Masuda is a recent participant in a WIPO project to support women entrepreneurs, and is in the process of trademarking her distinct brand. Masuda aims to expand into global markets while strengthening Bangladesh’s leather industry.
