Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy

The Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy is convened by a unique public-private partnership with leaders from INTERPOL, the World Customs Organization (WCO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Chamber of Commerce/Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (ICC/BASCAP Initiative) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).

It brings together high-level government officials, business leaders, senior law enforcement officials, judges and lawyers, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, consumer groups and academics to pool their experience for enhanced international coordination and cooperation, and more effective solutions in pursuit of the common goal of combating counterfeiting and piracy taking into account Recommendation 45 of the WIPO Development Agenda.

Evolving Challenges – Innovative Responses

The Seventh Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy took place in Istanbul on April 24 to 26, 2013. It was chaired by WCO and hosted by the Turkish Customs, with the support of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), and was co-organized by WIPO, INTERPOL, ICC/BASCAP and INTA.  Under the theme "Evolving Challenges - Innovative Responses" this year's Congress aimed to enhance public awareness and explored:
