Following the signing of the MOU between WIPO, the Singapore Innovation and Productivity Institute (SIPI) and the Singapore Manufacturers Federation (SMF) during the Director General’s visit to Singapore in August 2022, a kick off event was organized by SIPI and SMF, on November 7, 2022, where 20 companies were invited to a guided session of using WIPO IP Diagnostics.
Singapore experts – Audrey Yap, attorney at law and Chairperson of SIPI, and Dr. Gilbert Tan, Regional IP Counsel, Yokogawa Electric Asia, together with WIPO officials from the IP and Innovation Ecosystems Sector, Patents and Technology Sector and Brands and Designs Sector were at hand to answer questions and provide support. The questions ranged from employee inventions, software patents, patent search, freedom to operate etc.
This was the first of such activities under the MOU and amongst different efforts that are being piloted around WIPO IP Diagnostics to provide support to SMEs and SME intermediaries in using the IP system in business competitiveness.
