WIPO together with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the International Trade Center (ITC) provided support to the winners of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Joint Innovations Challenge 2022: Innovations to Empower Women and Girls Challenge.
Ten winners were selected from 300 proposals coming from 61 countries for innovative solutions that can empower women and girls. The ten winning proposals will receive from UNFPA up to $60,000 as seed money per award and mentoring support from WIPO, ITC and ITU to help them in taking their idea to market.
For the support provided by WIPO, each company was requested to use WIPO IP Diagnostics and based on the reports generated each company was given the opportunity to discuss over a meeting of one hour with a WIPO official and a WIPO nominated external expert the WIPO IP Diagnostics reports, ask questions and receive clarifications and guidance on their IP management strategies.
