In 2022, the WIPO Publication Enterprising Ideas was translated, and adapted to the local legal, regulatory and business context of Albania and Latvia. This work was undertaken respectively by the General Directorate of Industrial Property of the Republic of Albania (GDIP) and the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia (LPO), with the support of WIPO.
This publication introduces startups to IP. Through step-by-step guidance, useful case studies, and simple checklists, it illustrates how small businesses can use IP to remain competitive and manage risks. Written for startups bringing an innovative technology-based solution to market, the guide will be useful to any entrepreneur wanting to get to grips with the IP system.
The availability of the guide in local languages will be an opportunity to support start-ups to strengthen their businesses and expand successfully through the use of IP. Particularly, in adapting the content to the local context and illustrating it with local case studies, the information is much more relevant to the local community. The exposure to practical experience and provision of success stories is expected to contribute to improving the entrepreneurship activity and the use of IP by the broader startup community in Albania and Latvia.
