Launch of the WIPO Intellectual Property Management Clinic in the Algerian creative industries, Moubadar>art

May 28, 2024, Algiers - The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in cooperation with the National Office of Copyrights and Related Rights (ONDA) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, has launched the first edition of the IP Management Clinic Program in the Algerian Creative Industries, Moubadar>art. This pioneering initiative is the first of its kind in the Arab region and promises significant support for Algeria’s vibrant and innovative entrepreneurs.

The launch event, held in Algiers, was inaugurated by H.E. Soraya Mouloudji, Minister of Culture and Arts, and attended by H.E. Ali Aoun, Minister of Industry, and Pharmaceutical Production, and H.E. Yacine El-Mehdi Oualid. Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises.

Sixteen selected entrepreneurs, amongst the 170 applicants, were welcomed and congratulated by the organizers, including WIPO’s IP for Business Division and WIPO Algeria Office, ONDA, and the Algerian Higher School of Business (ESAA), before the official launch ceremony. The introductory workshop featured productive discussions about the program's framework, addressing questions, and setting the stage for the four-month journey ahead.

Participants will receive personalized expert advice from local IP, business, and digital experts, alongside intensive, tailor-made training sessions during three in-person boot camps. The program aims to equip these entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively manage and leverage their intellectual property assets.

Welcomed on the stage, one of the participants, Ms. Narimane Boucena who is developing an educative board game, expressed her enthusiasm: “I am thankful for this project and proud to be part of the first edition of Moubadar>art. It was great hearing from other candidates about their projects, and I can’t wait to start this program.”

This initiative marks a significant step forward in supporting Algeria's creative industries, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable growth through effective IP management.
