IP XML Schemas
Version 1.0
Adopted by the Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) at its second session on May 4, 2012
1. The Annex III of ST.96, the IP XML Schemas, is the set of XML schemas for data components defined in Annex II of WIPO Standard ST.96, the IP Data Dictionary. The XML schemas are intended to be used for inter office communication and reused for office implementation.
2. The ST.96 XML Schemas are categorized into Common Components, Patent Components, Trademark Components and Design Components. Common Components must be context-neutral (or business independent) and shared by, at least, two types of industrial property. Patent Components, Trademark Components and Design Components represent specific business data of patents, trademarks and industrial designs respectively. In addition, schemas for External Standards are included in Annex III.
3. There are three different levels of the components, i.e., Basic, Aggregate and Document Component level. Common Components are classified into Basic and Aggregate levels; and Patent, Trademark and Design Components into Basic, Aggregate and Document levels.
