Approved by the XML4IP Task Force of the Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) on June 1, 2020.
(Note: With the approval of the XML4IP Task Force, this corrected version of ST.96 v4.0 was published without necessitating a new release on November 2, 2020 for the purposes of correcting an error with DesignClaimTextBag, which had been incorrectly implemented in the previous release published on June 1, 2020).
- The Annex III of WIPO Standard ST.96, the IP XML Schemas, is the set of XML schemas for data components defined in Annex II of ST.96, the IP Data Dictionary. The ST.96 XML Schemas are intended to be used for inter office communication and reused for office implementation.
- The ST.96 XML Schemas are categorized into Common Components, Patent Components, Trademark Components and Design Components. Common Components must be context-neutral (or business independent) and shared by, at least, two types of industrial property. Patent Components, Trademark Components and Design Components represent specific business data of patents, trademarks and industrial designs respectively. In addition, schemas for External Standards are included in Annex III.
