ST.96 - Annex III

IP XML Schemas

Approved by the XML4IP Task Force of the Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) on October 2, 2023

  1. The Annex III of WIPO Standard ST.96, the IP XML Schemas, is the set of XML schemas for data components defined in Annex II of  ST.96, the IP Data Dictionary. The ST.96 XML Schemas are intended to be used for inter office communication and reused for office implementation.
  2. The ST.96 XML Schemas are categorized into Common Components, Patent Components, Trademark Components, Design Components, Geographical Indication Components and Copyright Components. Common Components must be context-neutral (or business independent) and shared by, at least, two types of industrial property. Patent Components, Trademark Components, Design, Geographical Indication and Copyright Components represent specific business data of patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indication and copyright orphan works respectively. In addition, schemas for External Standards are included in Annex III.
