BACK TO BACK MISSIONS The International Conference on Building Respect for Intellectual Property will be organized in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 23 (Gala Dinner) and on 24 – 25, 2018. These are the only dates proposed by the Government of the Republic of South Africa and were dictated by the availability of the selected conference facility (Sandton Convention Center). In accordance with the approved work plan for 2017 (Program 17 / 0050: ER VI.2 01 - P3244 P. Act. 2), and the approved work plan 2018-2019 (ER VI. 1 P.A. 2), the Building Respect for IP (BRIP) Division is commencing preparations for a high-level, International Conference on Building Respect for Intellectual Property (IP), in cooperation with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) of South Africa and with the support of INTERPOL and the World Customs Organization (WCO). This conference would represent a new concept, replacing the Global Congresses on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy organized between 2004 and 2013. Thus, a Preparatory Mission for the International Conference will be held on October 30 and 31, 2017. ------------------------------------ WIPO/CIPC Workshop on the South African IP Training Manual on Investigation and Prosecution of IP Crime for Senior Law Enforcement Officials The WIPO Strategic Goal VI-driven objectives of the proposed workshop are: to teach the content of the WIPO/CIPC Training Manual; and to ensure that the IP crime prosecutors are equipped to deal with IP and related crimes in a manner conducive to the implementation of Recommendation 45 of the WIPO Development Agenda (DA). |
