Description: |
Following a consultation meeting held in Abidjan on cooperation with African regional bodies in November 2016, between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Organization, it was agreed that the three institutions would continue to explore synergies in their programs in order to facilitate the implementation of their respective mandates in the region (please see attached mission report). In this regard, the AWARD organization has requested WIPO’s support in facilitating the participation of a resource person to make presentations at boot camps and workshops being organized for entrepreneurs in agribusiness in Accra, Ghana, and Lusaka, Zambia, from April 3 to 5, and April 10 to 12, 2017 respectively. The Resource person is also to participate as a judge on the last day of the boot camp as awards will be presented to selected entrepreneurs who are adjudged to have harnessed innovation in boosting their competitiveness in the market. Owing to the short notice and time constraints, WIPO is only able to accommodate the request for Zambia. Ms. Rose Mboya, International IP Expert resident in Kenya (neighboring country) has therefore been nominated by the Regional Bureau for Africa to participate in this event and make the relevant presentations. A cost estimate for her participation is attached for your consideration and approval, please. A draft letter of invitation to the Expert, who has informally committed to participating, is also attached for your kind consideration. |
