With reference to the Director General’s letter to the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Ali Sunaidi, it is proposed that WIPO organize a Workshop on the National IP Education and Training Plan of Oman, in Muscat, on April 26 and 27, 2017.
In addition, it is proposed that a series of consultation meetings would be organized on April 25 and 28. These meetings would be to help ensure ownership of the training plan at the national level prior to its adoption and to prepare the next steps in terms of its implementation.
The objective of the Workshop is to bring together all relevant stakeholders to agree on the adoption of the training plan and to discuss its implementation. We are currently in discussion with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the draft of the National IP Education and Training Plan. The main elements of this will be agreed in advance of the Workshop allowing it to focus on raising awareness among various stakeholders; demonstrating the links with the National Innovation Strategy; and discussing implementation. |
