The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) of South Africa requested the support of WIPO for the organization of a Workshop on Intellectual Property Management for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa. In his response the Director General confirmed that WIPO will support the organization of the requested workshop.
After initial discussions it has been agreed that the workshop be held in Pretoria, South Africa, on November 9 and 10, 2016. The workshop will be followed, on November 11, 2016, by discussions with stake holders responsible in the coordination of a planned IP and SMEs Project to be undertaken in South Africa.
The objective of the workshop is to enhance the awareness of SMEs on IP asset management. In addition, the workshop aims at setting the pace for a broader project that aims at addressing holistically the IP related challenges that face SMEs in South Africa and how these challenges can be alleviated. |
