Description: |
A follow-up expert mission is sought to be conducted by the two consultants of the Enabling IP Environment Project in line with their respective ICS contracts, which has the objective of preparing the "baseline assessment and road map at the inception phase of the Project to provide guidance on how best to achieve the objectives of the Project in a manner that can be sustained by the beneficiary country beyond the period of the Project." The initial assessment mission and orientation of the Project has already been done in Sri Lanka last June 14-17, 2016 but for purposes of preparing the roadmap, there is a need to conduct a follow-up mission to engage the stakeholders in a deeper way to present and validate the key points/findings in the initial mission as well as ascertain the interest of selected institutions to take an active role in the hub and spoke structure of the Project as well as in the governing body, which is the steering committee. The follow-up mission is scheduled from September 7 to 10 in order to take part in the “Science and Technology for Society” (STS) Forum which is organized by the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Science and Technology and Research of Sri Lanka and meet with high level officials and decision-makers in the targeted institutions for the Project. After weeks of negotiations, the organizers have agreed to organize a side meeting at the margins of the conference for WIPO to have a closed-door discussion with the relevant participants, aside from having the consultants speak at the forum. Similar follow-up missions were conducted in Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines for the same purpose. |
