Description: |
A subject matter of continued importance and priority for the Caribbean region is intellectual property (IP) awareness and training, in particular for law enforcement officials, including the police, customs and prosecutors, as well as enhancing the IP knowledge of members of the judiciary. Two events are proposed for the Caribbean in the framework of the Strategic Goal VI, and guided by Recommendation 45 of the Development Agenda, the objectives of the Workshops are to increase intellectual property (IP) awareness and TRIPS-based training for law enforcement officials; and to enhance the IP knowledge of members of the judiciary to provide fair, efficient and consistent handling and adjudication of IP cases. In accordance with the work plan for 2016/2017, technical assistance has been requested by the Governments of Dominica and St Lucia in the undertaking of such workshops on IP and its related enforcement issues. It is proposed that the workshops be held back to back. The Workshops will be carried out in collaboration with the Building Respect for IP (BRIP) Division. |
