Reference is made to the implementation of the above mentioned project in Ethiopia.
The implementation of the project commenced through formal launching of the project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 12 and 13, 2015.
The National Expert Group (NEG) has been established and work is in progress on need identification.
The next step is to focus on national capacity building for patent search and preparation of the report of the need areas.
The two area of need require consultation at the national level involving the international expert, the national expert and the members of the NEG and WIPO.
Following consultations with the Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO), the national expert and the international expert, the period of April 18 to 21, 2016 was proposed as a suitable time for capacity building and national consultation.
In view of this, it is proposed for your consideration to undertake a mission to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from April 18 to 21, 2016, for Mr. Mohamed Shariff, international expert from Malaysia and myself. The mission of Mr. Shariff will last four days, while that of mine will be for three days.
The cost of the mission attached, will be financed from the budget of the Division for Least Developed Countries (LDCs – 0035 P3548). |
