Title: Implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda Project - Phase II on Appropriate Technology for Rwanda - Consultation Mission, Kigali, Rwanda
Description: Reference is made to the implementation of the above mentioned project in Rwanda.
The implementation of the project commenced through formal launching of the project in Kigali, Rwanda, on September 28 and 29, 2016.
The implementation of the project is progressing as approved, following identification of two need areas by the National Expert Group (NEG).
The next step is to focus on national capacity building for patent search and preparation of the report of the need areas. The above mentioned activity requires consultation at the national level involving the international expert, the national expert and the members of the NEG (established and in operation in accordance with the approved project document).
Following consultations with the national expert and the international expert, the period of March 21 to March 25, 2016 was proposed as a suitable time for capacity building and national consultation.
In view of this, it is proposed for your consideration to undertake a mission to Kigali, Rwanda, from March 21 to March 25, 2016 for Mr. Mohamed Shariff, international expert from Malaysia and myself. The mission of Mr. Shariff will last five days, while that of mine will be for three days.
The cost of the mission which is attached will be financed from the budget of the Division for Least Developed Countries (LDCs – 0035 P3548).
