You have approved the recruitment of a Consultant to develop a business case and a business strategy in support of the Kisii soapstone sector in Kenya (memo attached). The assignment is in progress, however it is proposed to gather input from the national government, county government and national stakeholders, as to what should constitute the Government’s and county government’s role in the implementation of the strategy both from policy direction, financial support, and facilitation. On the occasion, WIPO’s role will also be underscored. After further consultations with the Kenyan Government, it is agreed to convene the Meetings in Nairobi and Kisii on December 15 to 17, 2015. It is proposed that WIPO be represented by Ms. Neema Nyerere-Drago, Senior Program Officer, Regional Bureau for Africa, and that Ms. Marina Sauzet, IP Consultant, also take part. |
