In 2015 WIPO organized in cooperation with UKIPO a meeting with international stakeholders and potential users of WIPO services to examine a series of WIPO developments and strengthen relations with the user community. UK and international stakeholders requested WIPO to keep them updated on new WIPO developments, and mentioned WIPO Research as one of the areas of interest.
Mr. Tom Bombelles, Head, Global Health, would be available to bring new developments in the WIPO Research initiative to the attention of international stakeholders. Mr. Victor Vazquez, Head, Section for Coordination of Developed Countries, TDC, will make a presentation on developments concerning roving seminars on WIPO services.
A number of UK persons and entities have greatly helped us in the promotion of the WIPO roving seminars and it would be important to seek their support for the future. UK stakeholders are extremely well represented in international NGOs such as MARQUES, FICPI, UNION IP, CIPA, AIPPI and INTA, among others, as well as in media platforms used for the promotion of these events, such as IP Kat. This international encounter would be instrumental in gaining stakeholder support for the seminars in 2016.
Mr. Gwilym Roberts, partner of Kilburn & Strode will host the meeting, as he did with the previous one in 2015. The meeting will be followed by a lunch, hosted by WIPO, in a nearby restaurant, with participation of international private stakeholders and UKIPO (14 in total). This activity is included in the 2015 TDC WP. The mission will be financed under Unit 0037, Activity Code P1072. A cost estimate for the mission of Mr. Vazquez and Mr. Bombelles is attached. |
