Description: |
As part of our tailored promotion strategy, the organization of a study visit regarding the Geneva (1999) Act for delegates from some countries or international intergovernmental organizations is again foreseen this year. Firstly, it could help us in our plan to terminate the 1934 Act and focus the system solely around the Geneva (1999) Act. Furthermore, the Hague Union comprises some inactive members that remain bound exclusively by the 1960 Act. Secondly, it would be beneficial in terms of promotion of the use of the Hague System in the current membership and to expand the geographical scope of the system to new regions. The proposed study visit will take place in connection with the fifth session of the Working Group on the Legal Development of the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs, from December 14 to 16, 2015. On December 17, 2015, the participants to the proposed study visit will participate in a roundtable to update their status which will be followed by tailor-made sessions, in which, for instance, business process at the operational level could be discussed in details with the delegations of those countries whose accession is expected shortly while the improvement of the process could be discussed with the delegations of current Contracting Parties. For the above reasons, our colleagues in the respective Regional Bureaus, Department and Division have been approached with a view to establishing a list of proposed countries to be financed. The outcome of these consultations is attached. Financing of the participation costs would be covered by the respective activity codes of the Regional Bureaus, Departments and Division. |
