Title: Roundtable on IP Teaching, Training and Research: Joint Proposals, Strategies and Recommendations for IP Education
Description: Reference is made to Article 1 of the cooperation agreement and the letter from Mr. Regan Asgarali, Controller, Intellectual Property Office of Trinidad and Tobago), related to WIPO assistance in organizing a sub-regional activity on IP teaching in the Caribbean region that will ensure cooperation among the three UWI campuses. In addition, an e-mail from Mr. Westmin R.A. James, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Law, UWI (Cave Hill Campus), Barbados expressed their eagerness to work with WIPO in the delivery of IP courses and access to IP materials at UWI (Cave Hill Campus - Barbados).
The objective of the Roundtable would be to bring together stakeholders from the three main UWI campuses to review the challenges and opportunities on IP teaching and to come up with proposals, strategies and recommendations, with the view to ensure efficiency and sub-regional cooperation in IP teaching, training and research. In addition, the Roundtable will take stock of the available IP experts and resources in those institutions and their areas of expertise and review on how they can collaborate in IP teaching in the UWI including. Finally both participants from the IP offices and universities will discuss on any other IP specialized professional training courses needed for the region.
