1.At the ninth session of the ACE, held on March 3 to 5, 2014, the Committee agreed to consider, at its tenth session, the following items: • Practices and operation of alternative dispute resolution systems in IP areas; • Preventive actions, measures or successful experiences to complement ongoing enforcement measures with a view to reducing the size of the market for pirated or counterfeited goods. As in previous sessions, it is suggested to invite and fund experts to support the discussions on the above work program. The experts will be identified and invited in close consultation with the Regional Coordinators. A separate memorandum seeking your approval will be submitted as soon as a tentative program with experts is developed. Exhibition – As in the ninth session, in order to accommodate Member States’ requests to present national initiatives in the area of “preventive actions” (e.g., videos, posters, other visual aids), an exhibition may be organized during the tenth session, presenting in “vitrine” format the various national activities by interested Member States. It is proposed that the exhibition this year focuses on two themes: public communications campaigns on respect for IP and awareness tools for young people. As in the past, it is suggested to invite and fund the participation of Government officials from 26 countries (five per region plus China). The list of countries, selected upon consultations with the Regional Coordinators, will be finalized at a later stage. |
