Description: |
The agreed Work Plan 2015/2016 under the Funds-in-Trust for Building Respect for Copyright and Related Rights (FIT-ROK/BRIP) between WIPO and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea, includes the organization of a WIPO MCST–KCC Interregional Workshop on Copyright Enforcement in the third quarter of 2015. Objectives: (i) to consider the value of copyright and related rights (CR) protection and enforcement to the social, economic and cultural development of the participating countries; (ii) to provide basic training on remedies and CR enforcement measures, with a particular focus on the digital environment; (iii) to discuss topical issues in the area of building respect for CR; and (iv) to envisage national and transnational strategies for effective cooperation to build respect for CR. A total of twenty participants (two per country) from the following ten different countries, selected in concertation with MSCT, will be financed: Azerbaijan, China, Ghana, Malawi, Mongolia, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Participants should have a certain pre-existing understanding of CR protection and enforcement and be involved in policy making or operations to address copyright piracy in the digital environment. Each country will be invited to nominate one high-level officer from its Copyright Office and one participant from the practice of CR enforcement broadly speaking (police, customs official, prosecutor or judge). |
