Description: |
The Mission of Ecuador requested a number of activities of cooperation among which few in the field of patents were indicated of particular relevance to capital based competent authorities (see N.V. dated April1, 2015, attached). The Director General has replied positively to this request and has entrusted the LAC Bureau with the overall internal coordination for the organization of the said activities (see N.V. dated May 6, 2015, attached). In this connection, the PLD has prepared three different programs to properly deal with the very diverse subjects of the request. Each of these activities, as proposed in this memo, is focused on specific IP matters and targets a different audience. Another characteristic is that these activities are very short in duration (1 working day each). The three activities would be as follows: FIRST DAY 1. Title: WIPO National Seminar on the impact of industrial property on industry and commerce 2. Venue: Quito 3. Date: September 2, 2015 4. Organizers: WIPO and the Government of Ecuador (Ministry Foreign Trade and the IP Office (IEPI) 5. Program: The program addresses IP matters from the perspective of right holders, namely, the first part deals with how to create an IP asset and how to exploit it; afterwards, a concrete number of IP categories are developed in detail, and eventually two practical workshops are organized in parallel (one for trademarks and the second for inventions). 6. Participants to be invited: The local co-organizer would take care of the invitations, to academy and private sector, including local and foreign entrepreneur’s chambers. 7. Invited speakers: . One local expert to be proposed by the host country . One international expert invited by WIPO: Ms. Helena Molina, Intangibles, Barcelona . One regional expert invited by WIPO: Ms. Maria del Pilar Noriega, Instituto Colombiano del Plástico y el Caucho (ICPC), Medellín . One international expert self-financed |
