It has been foreseen under the Japan Funds-in-Trust (IP) work plan FY 2014-2015 for Africa and the Least Developed Countries to organize the yearly planned Evaluation and Programming meeting.
Following consultations with the Japan Patent Office (JPO), it has been agreed to hold the evaluation and programming meeting in Kampala, Uganda, on March 27, 2015, in the margin of a High Level- Meeting for Members of Parliament of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO): Strategic use of the IP System for Economic, Cultural, Social and Technological Development, on March 25 to 26, 2015, the details of which are described in a separate memo.
The objective of the meeting will be to conduct an overall assessment of the activities undertaken in the fiscal year 2014-2015 and to elaborate and finalize the work plan for the fiscal year 2015-2016. The meeting will discuss the following:
i) The draft report on the implemented work plan for the fiscal year 2014-2015 and
ii) The proposed draft work plan for the fiscal year 2015-2016.
It is proposed that WIPO will be represented by two officials from the Africa Bureau. I will be already there for the High Level-Meeting above. Mr. Shingo Tsuda, Program Officer in charge of FIT Japan, will arrive earlier so that he can attend the High Level-Meeting which is also an activity under the FIT Japan.
As provisioned in the Activity Work Plan Fit Japan Africa and LDCs, one official from the Japan Patent Office will attend the Evaluation meeting. |
