Within the framework of the Work Program for 2015 and following consultations held with the delegation of South Africa during the Fifty-Fourth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), it is proposed to organize Roving Seminars on Patents and the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in Cape Town and Pretoria, South Africa on March 25 and 26, 2015. These seminars are a follow-up to successful outreach activities that have been organized by WIPO in cooperation with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission of South Africa in several public universities in South Africa in the past few years. The Seminar in Cape Town will be held at the University of the Western Cape and will be attended by participants from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the University of Cape Town, the University of Stellenbosch, the University of the Western Cape and the South African Medical Research Council. All the participating institutions are users of the PCT. Participants for the second seminar will be drawn from CIPC and the Department of trade and Industry. |
