The XI Foro Iberoamericano sobre Interpretaciones Audiovisuales (XI Ibero-american Forum on Audiovisual Performances) is taking place in Lisbon, Portugal between November 3 and 5, 2015. The event is jointly organized by collective management organizations from Portugal and Spain, namely Gestão dos Direitos dos Artistas Interpretes ou Executantes (GDA), LATIN ARTIS and Artistas Intérpretes, Sociedad de Gestión (AISGE). It also relies on the collaboration from the Secretary of Culture of Portugal, the Bar Association of Portugal and the University of Lisbon. Please find the draft program attached. The event will be held in Portuguese and Spanish without interpretation. The Beijing Treaty is highlighted in the program and several panels have the Beijing Treaty as their subject, with the participation of experts from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. WIPO has been asked to participate in this aspect of the program, which is designed to “train the trainers” from various Latin American countries in the details of the Beijing Treaty so that they can help with the Latin Artis ratification campaign. It is proposed that Mr. Rafael Ferraz Vazquez, ICS, from the Copyright Law Division (CLD), attend the event to deliver a welcoming speech and two presentations on the Beijing Treaty. His participation has been requested by the organizers because he speaks both Portuguese and Spanish at the mother-tongue level, and thus there will be no need for interpretation. Please find enclosed a draft cost estimate for this mission. CLD has adequate funds available in its budget in Program 3, Unit 0007, Activity Code P 1033. For your consideration and approval, please. |
