Description: |
This is the second year of implementation of the FIT/AU and ISS focused on providing training programs foreseen to take place in Asia Pacific selected countries in order to create a "national pool of experts" in the areas of IPR management and IP commercialization for universities and R&D institution s. These experts should further disseminate the acquired knowledge within their countries as foreseen in the WI PO/FIT Australia Workplan. Based on the experience acquired during the first year of the implementation of the program under FIT Australia in VietNam and the challenges that ISS faced in this country, such as insufficient number of national participants/experts fluent in English, ISS proposed as followup activities to organize "Training of Trainers" courses in order to achieve sustainable results, and assure the broadest possible dissemination of information and the knowledge transferred during trainings. These "ToT" sessions will prepare the trainees to organize and deliver future "Patent Drafting Workshops" in Vietnamese. In addition, all necessary materials (presentations and exercises) will be translated into Vietnamese. The WI PO Patent Drafting Manual has been already translated and printed in June this year. Thus, after the currently proposed ToT Program, the participants will be enabled to carry out further trainings entirely in Vietnamese, which will efficiently leverage the WI PO training, information and expertise. Further details on these sessions are provided below and on the attached Draft Program. Also based on the first years' experience of implementing FIT Australia Programs in Viet Nam, ISS has been informed by local authorities and has been able to confirm in situ that national means to encourage the attendance and to finance the administrative support required for these activities are very limited. The National Authorities are unable to pay for the attendance of participants from outside the venue where the training is taking place as wel |
