In his letter of February 7, 2014 (attached), Mr. Zaynitdin Giyasov, Acting Director General, Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Uzbekistan, requested WIPO to organize a study visit to the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) for two representatives from the Agency, in order to obtain the information about organizational structure, management and working methodologies applied in GPTO. In her letter of February 13, 2014 (attached), Mrs. Cornelia Rudloff-Schaeffer, President, German Patent and Trademark Office, agreed to host this visit and to take over the necessary arrangements, including the program of meetings. It is envisaged that during the visit representatives from Uzbekistan will gain experience from a country with a well-functioning intellectual property (IP) system like Germany, with particular focus on the needs of Uzbekistan to establish a credible intellectual property regime conducive for economic, social and cultural development. |
