Title: National Seminar on Copyright in the Internet: Perspectives and Problems
Description: Upon the request of Mr. Kamran Imanov, Chairman, Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, WIPO agreed to organize the National Seminar on Copyright in the Internet: Perspectives and Problems, in Baku on December 5, 2013 (copy of the approved memo attached).
At the initiative of the Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan the Seminar was postponed, and following the new request from the Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (copy attached) it is proposed to hold the National Seminar on Copyright in the Internet: Perspectives and Problems in Baku on February 20, 2014.
The objective of the Seminar would be to discuss the actual issues of copyright protection and enforcement in the Internet in the Republic of Azerbaijan, including measures to fight against counterfeiting and piracy, development of the legislative framework, and exchange best practices in this field.
WIPO would finance the participation of an international speaker (Mr. Mihály Ficsor, Hungary) and offer him an honorarium at the amount of USD800, and contribute to the cost of the remuneration for two locally recruited interpreters for one working day, at the amount of USD300 per interpreter per working day, to the cost of renting conference facilities, including interpretation equipment at the maximum amount of Sfr1,000, and to the cost of two coffee breaks for 60 persons up to Sfr3.2 per person per coffee break.
