Description: |
Reference is made to the launch of the Project on the Transfer of Appropriate Technology for Development in Mozambique, which took place on August 1 to 3, 2018. The process of the Transfer of Appropriate Technology is in progress at the national level and is in line with the envisaged delivery strategy and implementation plans. In particular, a National Expert Group (NEG) has been established with twenty three members from national institutions such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Professional Education, the Industrial Property Institute, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, national universities and research centers. It is therefore an opportune time to make progress in the assessment of national development priority areas and undertake technological needs analysis. In this context, it is proposed to organize a NEG meeting from October 21 to 23, 2019, which will finalize the identification of two development needs areas and thereby enable the preparation of patent search requests and patent search reports in the future. The national development needs analysis processes will be guided by factors such as importance of the area for national development, chances of successful implementation, local capacity to implement, target beneficiaries, and possibility of replication of the identified technology for the needs areas. In addition, the NEG Meeting will also serve as an opportunity for technological capacity building on issues pertaining to the use of scientific and technical information as a valuable resource for development. The above-mentioned meeting and mission will be financed from the Budget of the Division for Least Developed Countries. The cost estimate is attached. For your consideration please, Thank you. |
