Title: National Meeting on Harnessing IP for Women's Entrepreneurship and National Workshop on IP for Members of Judiciary
Description: 1) National Meeting on Harnessing Intellectual Property for the Benefit of Women’s Entrepreneurship in cooperation with the University of Dar es Salaam, June 24 and 25, 2019:
Reference is made to the cooperation established by the Division for Least Developed Countries with the University of Dar es Salaam in the area of awareness raising amongst women entrepreneurs on the benefits of Intellectual Property tools for business development and product value addition.
Reference is also made to the letter received from the University of Dar es Salaam requesting for a follow up meeting to the National Meeting on Harnessing Intellectual Property for the Benefit of Women’s Entrepreneurship which was held in Dar es Salaam
on August 28 and 29, 2017.
A request for a biennial meeting of this kind was also raised during the above-mentioned meeting by the representatives from the University of Dar es Salaam and from the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA). Please find the Mission Report of the meeting attached.
In this context, and following consultations with the University of Dar es Salaam, it is proposed for a follow up two day training and capacity building meeting to be organized for the benefit of women entrepreneurs in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on June 24 and 25, 2019.
The scheduled dates for the meeting have been finalized taking into account two additional meetings for cost efficiency reasons which will be held back to back in Dar es Salaam, namely the (i) National Workshop on Intellectual Property for Members of the Judiciary on June 27 and 28, 2019 and (ii) WIPO-Sida Follow-up to the Training and Advisory Program on Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs); Copyright for Development from June 30 to July 5, 2019.
