1. Mission Proposal: Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine (MEDT)-WIPO Seminar on Mediation for Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Disputes, Kiev, Ukraine, May 28, 2019. 2. Proposed WIPO Traveler: Leandro Toscano 3. Meeting Agenda: The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center collaborates with a number of IP and Copyright Offices in different regions. Such collaborations follow different models that may cover raising awareness of ADR, case administration, and the development of certain related model agreements. Capturing the Center’s growing experience in this area, the Center in July 2015 made available a WIPO Guide on Alternative Dispute Resolution Options for IP Offices and Courts (WIPO ADR Guide), with the appreciated support of the Funds-in-Trust/Republic of Korea Industrial Property (FIT/RoK (IP)). To provide an update on the Center’s collaborative experience with IP authorities in promoting or developing ADR mechanisms, a second edition of the WIPO ADR Guide was published in 2018. In September 2018, MEDT and WIPO concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the promotion of ADR options for IP disputes in Ukraine. The MoU envisages, inter alia, raising awareness of WIPO ADR procedures among potential users; identifying and training specialized IP mediators and arbitrators; supporting the development of ADR policies and procedures; utilizing case administration services of the Center where appropriate, particularly in international disputes; and providing tailored seminars for potential parties in Ukraine. The program will also include a session on WIPO’s dispute resolution services for .UA domain names, in light of the newly developed policy for .UA domain names under which the Center has recently been appointed by the .UA registry as the sole provider for dispute resolution services for .UA domain names. 4. Participants: The Seminar will attract local IP practitioners, |
