Title: Second Phase of Joint Training Program between WIPO and OMPIC for Participants from Arab Countries
Description: Reference is made to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the
Director General and the Director General of Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) on March 12, 2018, the objective of which is to develop the skills of the beneficiaries from national IP Offices in Arab Countries and improve their effectiveness in managing and evaluating immaterial assets (patents, trademarks, as well as industrial designs).
In this respect and in implementation of the 2018 Joint Workplans of the Regional Bureau
for Arab Countries and the WIPO Academy, the first phase of this first edition of the Joint Training Program between WIPO and OMPIC for participants from Arab Countries, took place in Casablanca, Morocco, from November 12 to 16, 2018. After successfully passing the two required distance learning programs through the WIPO and OMPIC platforms, nine participants from nine Arab countries participated in the face-to face Modules on distinctive marks and patents and innovation-related services, in addition to one representative from the League of Arab States (LAS) and one from the Gulf cooperation Council Intellectual Property Training Center. Two participants from Morocco attended also the training.
The second and last phase of the training program consists of final and compulsory written and oral exams in Casablanca and the subsequent delivery of certificates to successful trainees. It will take place on March 7 and 8, 2019, as recommended by OMPIC relevant officials.
