Title: Study Visit of the Syrian Delegation to the Russian Federation,
Description: Reference is made to the approved memo of October 12, 2018 (copy attached), regarding the Study Visit of the Delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation.
For your kind information, please note that the planned trip of the Syrian Delegation to Moscow from December 10 to 16, 2018, was cancelled, and the event now will be held from January 21 to 27, 2019, as a result of the appointment of the new Minister for Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of the Syrian Arab Republic.
As originally planned, I will accompany the Syrian Delegation throughout their visit, and for this purpose, will be traveling to Moscow on January 19, 2019, in order to prepare the visit in advance of the delegation’s arrival on January 20, 2019. I propose to return to Geneva on January 27, 2019.
The composition of the delegation is proposed to remain the same as before (other than the Minister himself), and the relevant invitation letters are enclosed for your kind approval.
The composition of the Syrian Delegation now is the following:
 Mr. Samir Hasan, Director, Directorate of Industrial and Commercial Property Protection (DCIP), Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of the Syrian Arab Republic;
 Ms. Mais Arafat, Head, International Trademark Section, DCIP;
 Ms. Nisreen Akel, Head, Patent Section, DCIP.
The costs for the event will be shared with Rospatent, and WIPO’s costs will be equally shared between TDC, Program 30 (0052), W_10598 (50% of 30/0052 share) and W_12228 (50% of 30/0052 share) and the Regional Bureau for Arab Countries, Program 9 (0032), W_12629. Funds are available and the cost estimate is attached.
