Description: |
To gather trademark experts, government officials and representatives from private sector to meet and discuss IP protection in the context of product branding increasing business competitiveness and providing better livelihood and supporting development of local communities. The discussions in the roundtable will highlight two WIPO emblematic Development Agenda projects, namely: a. IP and Product Branding for Business Development in Developing Countries and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) (2010-2013); and b. IP and Design Management for Business Development in Developing and Least Developed Countries (2014-2016). Participants from countries along the BRI initiative who have employed branding projects will share their stories and explore a sustainable development framework to continue similar endeavors. While participants from countries have expressed interest to embark on branding and trademark protection initiatives will have the opportunity to obtain new insights, find development partners or explore south-south cooperation. Thus, participants from non-governmental and international organizations will be invited to the Roundtable. Through the roundtable, WIPO will play the role of a catalyst to reach out to a broader coalition of relevant stakeholders to achieve a more cumulative impact of IP on development. |
