Reference is made to the above subject, and the request received by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) from the Government of the Republic of Mozambique to participate in the implementation of the WIPO Project entitled: Capacity-Building in the Use of Appropriate Technology-Specific Technical and Scientific Information as a Solution for Identified Development Challenges. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the project was held on February 26, 2018 in the presence of H.E. Mr. Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO signed the MoU on behalf of WIPO and H.E. Mr. José Condugua António Pacheco, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, signed the MoU, representing his Government. As contained in the project document, the first step following the signing of the MoU is to launch the project in the beneficiary country. In the context of the above and following consultations, it is proposed for your kind consideration the organization of the above mentioned meeting in Maputo, from August 1 to 3, 2018. The meeting will also discuss roadmaps for the implementation of the project. The meeting is expected to discuss and finalize identification of national experts for the establishment of the national expert group on appropriate technology, the establishment of a national multi stakeholders group and the nomination of national and international project consultants. A proposal is made for the participation of the following international experts at the national meeting: Dr. Mohamed Shariff Mohamed Din (Malaysia), Dr. McLean Sibanda (South Africa) and Professor Tom Peter Ogada (Kenya) - (see list attached). Professor Tom Peter Ogada will also undertake consultations with the University in Mozambique as a follow-up of the Training Programs organized in cooperation with the Government of |
