Description: |
Conducting AI related capacity building activities for countries, in partnership with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), is already contemplated in the approved work plan for Funds-in-Trust of the Republic of Korea for Industrial Property for 2024-2025 (FIT/RoK IP). A copy of the work plan is attached. It was foreseen that the need for AI knowledge and skills within IP offices would increase, as AI tools will help offices perform better in searches for patents, trademarks, and design examinations, in conducting formality checks for applications, and in translation requirements. However, IP offices are facing challenges in building AI capacity, despite the fact that implementing AI systems has become more straightforward than it used to be. |
