In the framework of the cooperation for development program of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), developing countries are being encouraged to draw up national intellectual property (IP) development plans dedicated to the establishment of effective and development-oriented IP systems in order to derive maximum benefit from the system.
An IP Development Plan is under elaboration for Sao Tome and Principe. The components of this plan will be focusing on some agreed areas which will facilitate the use of IP in furtherance of the country’s national development goals and contribute to economic and social welfare.
